چکیده

A light and electron microscopic study was made of lymphatic tissues from 2 dogs with reticulum cell leukemia. Virus-like particles were found in both dogs. Cultures of leukemic cells were established from both dogs and 1 culture contained numerous C type virus-like particles. Mycoplasma canis was recovered from the pleural fluid and pleural fluid cell culture of 1 dog. Com parison of this mycoplasma with the virus-like particles showed the former to be more pleomorphic and much larger. M. canis was eliminated from the cell culture and the particles seen in subsequent passages were assumed to be viral rather than a form of mycoplasma.

The Enigma of Human T-Cell Leukemia Virus Type-1 (HTLV-1) Infection in Iran

Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type-I (HTLV-I) was the first human retrovirus associated with malignancy.  The prevalence of HTLV-I infection varies significantly in different regions of the world.  In this study, the prevalence of HTLV-I infection among ethnic Jews living in Shiraz, South of Iran, was investigated. 286 blood samples were obtained.  HTLV-1 antibody assay on serum samples was d...

Characterization of Nucleoprotein Extracted from Human Influenza A Virus Cultured in Two Different Cell Lines

Background and Aims: Influenza virus nucleoprotein (NP) has the capacity to be used as subunit vaccine, but little is known about the impact of different cultures on its structure. In the present study we aimed to evaluate and compare the Isoelectric focusing (IEF) property of extracted viral nucleoproteins derived from Madin Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cell line and embryonated chicken eggs (EC...

In vitro transmission and propagation of the bovine leukemia virus in monolayer cell cultures.

This study demonstrates that the bovine leukemia virus (BLV) can infect in vitro cells of human, simian, bovine, canine, caprine, ovine, and bat origin. Cultures of these cells, cocultivated with BLV-infected cells or inoculated with cell-free BLV preparations, continuoously showed the presence of cells with the internal BLV antigen as well as BLV-induced syncytia. Virus replication was abundan...

Construction of Influenza A/H1N1 Virosomal Nanobioparticles

Background and Aims: Influenza is one of the main respiratory infections of humans, responsible for 300,000–500,000 annual deaths world-wide. Vaccination is one of the best ways to prevent infections including influenza. Influenza virosomes are virus-like particles, which retain the cell binding and membrane fusion properties of the native virus, but lack the ribonucleoprotein (RNP). A vi...
